Hello

I love ‘love!’ Having been married since age 20 (26 years ago) and being dedicated parents to four boys, I love the idea of a true, romantic, and successful love story. My own parents split up, which has impacted my adult life, so whilst I was very naïve when I embarked upon marriage, the only thing I did know for sure was that I was determined to be in it for the long haul!

 

Having never even been to a wedding, I was uninformed about any alternative options that may have been open to me and therefore booked into the local church. I wasn’t even a member, but it was okay because we lived in the village! All I remember is singing a couple of hymns that I knew from school, wishing for the celebrations (eating, drinking, and partying) to begin! I also remember feeling this emulating from the guests – it was stuffy, nerve-wracking, and hushed, with the delayed echo of a church organ moaning in the background. Not a celebration of unity at all!

 

It’s so exciting that there is this new, modern way for couples to embrace, and I would just love to be a small part of telling somebody’s unique love story!

 

I have worked as a teacher with some of the most deprived families in Cardiff for almost 20 years. However, one of the most primal and commendable values that they hold is the love and protection they have for their own children. Supporting families, without judgement or comparison to my own morals and/or family values, has been one of the most rewarding yet challenging parts of the job. Often, when the other service doors are closed and help is hard to come by, school continues to be an accessible resource for help and support.

 

I believe that raw emotion is at the heart of human connection, and even when attack has been the symptom of the ‘call for help,’ it has been my instinct to react positively, offering my instinctive value to protect.

 

Now, after seeking a change of career, it is these skills that I wish to channel into supporting couples and families as they ask for help in times of heightened emotion, where human connection is paramount.

 

As I have already alluded to, I am coming towards the end of an era in my life! Our children have all flown the nest, and I no longer need the benefits that being a schoolteacher and being in sync with school holidays has afforded me. My married and family life has been wonderful and full of love — we have many stories to tell! But now, I am ready to divert my skills and be part of a new community, where I can continue to be part of the unique journey of love, love stories, and human connection!
